The B&KM Farms Promise:

Like all of our varieties, these seeds are 100% heirloom, non-GMO, and completely untreated. Every single packet is grown, harvested, and carefully packaged entirely by hand right here in the USA by our family team. We skip the massive, impersonal factory assembly lines so that we can ensure only the freshest, highest-quality seeds make it to your front door.

Variants:

  • 500 mg Packet (~1,250 Seeds) Perfect for small patio containers, window boxes, and accent borders.

  • 4 Grams (~10,000 Seeds) Great for edging long garden pathways or filling out multi-box porch planters.

  • 1 oz Bulk Pouch (~71,000 Seeds) Ideal for large-scale landscaping projects, dense meadow borders, and expansive ground cover layouts.

Quick Growing Facts:

  • Plant Type: Hardy Annual Ground Cover

  • Mature Height: 4 to 6 inches

  • Plant Spread: 10 to 14 inches

  • Days to Bloom: 40 to 60 days

  • Sunlight Requirements: Full Sun to Partial Shade

  • Hardiness Zones: 3 through 10 (Thrives across almost all regions)

Planting & Care Guide:

  • When to Plant: For early spring blooms, start seeds indoors 4–6 weeks before your region's last expected frost. Alternatively, you can scatter and direct-sow outdoors directly into the cool soil as soon as the danger of hard frost has passed.

  • Seeding Depth: Very shallow (1/16 of an inch). Alyssum seeds require light to germinate. Scatter them onto loose, finely prepared soil and press down gently with your fingers to ensure good soil contact without burying them completely.

  • Spacing: Thin or space individual plants about 6 to 8 inches apart. They will quickly spread out to form a seamless, dense carpet.

  • Watering: Maintain consistent moisture while seeds are germinating (typically takes 7–14 days). Once established, water moderately. Alyssum thrives in well-drained soil and prefers to dry out slightly between waterings.

  • Pro Gardening Tip: Alyssum loves moderate weather. If blooming slows down during the peak heat of midsummer, simply shear the plants back by half with garden snips and water regularly. As soon as the temperature dips slightly, they will reward you with a spectacular, second wave of fragrant white blossoms that lasts until the first hard winter frost!

Why You'll Love It:

  • Natural Weed Suppression: Its low, spreading habit forms a thick living mulch that naturally helps prevent weed seeds from taking over your garden beds.

  • Pollinator Magnet: The intense, sweet honey aroma acts as an immediate beacon for essential pollinators, helping boost the health and yield of your nearby vegetable garden.

  • Perfect for Beginners: Incredibly resilient, adaptable to poor soil conditions, and very fast to grow from seed, making it a wonderful project for children and first-time gardeners alike.

  • Self-Seeding: If you leave the flowers alone at the end of autumn, they will naturally drop seeds that return to greet you with beautiful, volunteering blooms next spring.
